We all know that if you have a business, you need to have a website. And if you have a website, you need to do SEO stuff and web optimizing and the works. And while it may not seem like it, Slack Shack is a business. I started it back in 2019 and it's made me a fair chunk of change (nothing substantial, but you know, better than nothing!). So it's about time that I start a blog of my own. I'm not 100% sure what I'll talk about on this blog, but I'm excited to see it progress into something! Anyways, here are 5 reasons why you should incorporate a blog into your website, whatever the business may be:
1. It Boosts Your SEO Rankings
Now, if you don't actually know much about SEO, Search Engines Optimization is essentially how much search engines like Google like your website. And search engines love fresh, relevant content in any form. Most of our projects on Slack Shack take months to create, and that's if we're lucky, so regularly updating our website with blog posts is a great way to keep our site awake on search engines. By targeting industry-specific keywords like "video production tips" or "how to create engaging online content," your blog can drive organic traffic to your site and attract potential clients to your services!
2. Establish Your Expertise and Authority
Your blog is an opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in in what you do. I'm an example of an expert with abundant authority when it comes to pretending like people care about what I say. Writing about trends, techniques, and solutions to common client challenges shows potential customers that you’re knowledgeable and trustworthy. It positions your company as an industry leader, increasing the likelihood that clients will choose you over competitors.
3. Engage and Educate Your Audience
A blog allows you to connect with your audience in a meaningful way. For example, you can provide insights into your industry or highlight case studies from past projects/clients. This helps educate potential clients while showcasing your unique approach and creativity. In our case, making silly fan films and hoping no one sues us!
4. Showcase Your Work and Process
Video production is a visual medium, and a blog gives you the chance to highlight your best projects while explaining the process behind them. By embedding videos within blog posts, you can provide deeper insights into how you bring concepts to life, making it easier for clients to understand the value of your work. Here's one now:
5. Build Trust and Foster Client Relationships
Blogs allow you to share your company’s story, values, and successes. This transparency helps build trust with potential clients and keeps existing clients engaged. Sharing behind-the-scenes content or client testimonials adds a personal touch that resonates with your audience. Just don't get too personal. You don't want your audience to know absolutely everything about you, like your fear of garland or obsession with your only undershirt that you've never changed or washed in your life. That'd be a step too far.
Bonus. Drive More Conversions
Ok, I accidentally typed "5" instead of "6" in the intro and I'll be darned if I go back and change it now. So this one is a bonus now! An informative and engaging blog creates opportunities to include calls to action (CTAs), such as encouraging readers to contact you for a consultation or explore your portfolio. By providing value through your content, you can guide potential clients toward taking the next step in their customer journey.
Incorporating a blog into your company’s website is a strategic move that can drive traffic, establish authority, and convert visitors into clients. It’s a long-term investment in your company’s online presence that pays off through improved visibility and stronger relationships with your audience. Anyway, my CTA is to invite you to check out our various channels on our homepage! I think you'll like them! See you next time.
